Inspiration comes from the strangest places. In this case, serendipity sprung from my constant need to fidget. After fidgeting with a twist-tie during a meeting, I found myself bending it into words. Amused by my fine motor skills, I decided to create doodles based on the words. Thus, the twist-tie type series was born. Doodled on a notepad at work, each piece was ephemeral, as the twist-tie would morph into a different word the following day.
After days of being bent and twisted, the twist-tie broke. I made the best of the situation, cut it into additional pieces, and created what I thought was the final piece in the series.
The next day, I arrived at work to a most pleasant surprise. One of my coworkers had placed a brand new twist-tie on my desk! And this one was longer! Thus, the twist-tie type series was reborn... with the potential of twisting into longer words...
A friend who worked at a dental clinic was very amused by my twist-tie type (which I was documenting on social media). She asked if I could create a couple of dental-themed pieces for her clinic to share on social media. I was happy to oblige.
